Nutrition, Whole Foods, and my recent Trip with my son and dad.
By Dr Bill Beyers
Tuesday, Oct 26, 2010 09:53

I was invited by the whole foods supplement company to visit their farm and manufacturing plant. So last week I took my son and my dad and we went to Wisconsin and toured the facilities of Standard Process. There was 100+ doctors and guests there for the weekend. It not only was the tour of the facilities but also included a seminar on many of their products. Dr Bruce Bond explained many of their products and gave protocols for different conditions. He was very knowledgable and entertaining. I find this is a good combination when trying to learn and retain something.

I want to post a few take away points of the weekend.

  • Dr Bond gave three important things to follow if you want to maintain overall health. They are EAT WELL, MOVE WELL AND THINK WELL. I will explain these in another post.
  • It is always good to be with family. Sharing the experience with my son and dad was great. My dad is 74 and has farmed all his life so he really enjoyed seeing how they grew the plants for the products.
  • I always like to learn new things. I only hope some of the things I'm doing with these sites will cause others to feel that way.

Advertising On Buses and Lockers? & Clubopportunity Moves Forward
By Dr Bill Beyers
Friday, Oct 01, 2010 04:43

Have you seen the articles written about districts allowing advertising on their buses and lockers? It can generate significant funds but is it the thing to do. I'm not sure how I would vote on something like this. I would have to do a lot more research on the type of ads and the message it was sending our students.

Now that our fundraising system is off and running and available to districts, corporations and Education Foundations, I can now turn more of my attention to ClubOpportunity and helping bring outside world and opportunities to the students.

Watch as we add content to the site. Video of student projects, interviews of students and also real world people offering wisdom and advice by telling their story from grade school to present.

We Have Launched Our New Innovative Fundraising System
By Dr Bill Beyers
Thursday, Sep 23, 2010 12:05

I have to apologize. I have not taken the time to post over the last few weeks. We have been very busy refining and putting together our communication packets about us and our fundraising system. These packets are going out weekly to Districts and/or their Educational Foundations. If you received one, you are lucky because you will be among the first to get started utilizing the system.

We are excited about the possibilties this system has for Districts and/or Foundations to ramp up and sustain their fundraising efforts.

If you have not received a packet or other communication from us and you would like to know about the Fundraising and Communication System, click on the link below. It will lead you to an online presentation of the system.

If you would like us to keep you updated on the things we are doing we would love to have you on our communication list just go to the box on the home page of this site and enter your name and email.

We look forward to bringing new things on board to benefit Schools and their students.

Is Nutrition Important In Your District? Do You Allow Soda in Your Schools?
By Dr. Beyers
Saturday, Jul 31, 2010 02:11
With the weight issues many kids face and the effects of to much sugar(especially high fructose corn syrup) has on the body,it is my opinion we should not allow these in our schools. Something even worse, in my opinion, are the the drinks with artificial sweeteners in them. ie Diet soda. There are more and more studies showing the negative effects of these drinks. I know, we get revenue from these vendors and we need all the revenue we can get but I think long term, we are creating more health and behavioral problems for our teachers and students.

Check out this link.

Continuing Education
By Dr Bill Beyers
Tuesday, Jun 15, 2010 05:16

I am required by the State licensing board to get so many hours of continuing education for license renewal. This past weekend I attended Homecoming at Logan College of Chiropractic and listened to 22 hours of speakers. Almost all of them were very good and I could take away at least one good thing to put on my list to implement or add to my tool box to help me help patients.

These speakers ranged from instuctors I had when I was in school, Dr Ralph Filson (Also chiropractor for the St louis Cardinals), to Dr Terry Yochum...voted "Best Faculty Instuctor of the Year" nine times by the 40 radiology residents at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, to Dr David Eisenberg a Medical Doctor and Director of the Osher Research Center at Harvard Medical School and many others that shared their knowledge.

Each one had there own way of presenting things but the ones that kept my attention best had stories in their presentation. It got me to thinking how many teachers use stories as a teaching method for their subject. It would be an interesting thing to know.

I will have to ask this question in the forum.

My second graduation as a board member.
By Doc Beyers
Tuesday, Jun 01, 2010 03:13

Last Saturday we had our High School graduation. This was my second graduation as a board member. This year I had a better idea of what I was doing and where I was supposed to stand, sit, etc. It was a little warm but we all survived.

The speeches we good and one of the salutitorian's opted to do a video in lieu of a speech which I thought she did a good job with it.

I especially wanted to mention the speech of our Superintendent. I thought Dr Lett's speech was especially noteworthy not just because of what he said but the fact that he highlighted some of the accomplishments of the students and the faculty and how they performed the play, the Wizard of OZ. I've posted video of the speech right after this.

We video taped the graduation as a fundraiser for our Educational Foundation so I would like to post the video of his speech and see if you agree. It not only applies to the graduating students but also to all our lives. I thought it would be a good thing for all of us to ponder.

Please leave your comments.

Maybe we could highlight your Superintendent's speech to the senior class so that others could also benefit from it.

Always continue to learn. Do you seek what you want to learn, learn from daily life, or both?
By Bill Beyers
Thursday, May 27, 2010 04:07

I have had the privledge, mostly because I paid to learn from them, to be around and listen to people such as George Ross, Ivanka Trump, Nido Qubein, Gene Simmons, Bill Bartman, Harry Dent Jr., Joan Rivers, Jason Dorsey, Dan Kennedy, Bill Glazer, others in the marketing, health, and banking world. I have also had the privledge to get a lot of valuable information FREE throughout my life from my parents, teachers, religious figures, collegues, family and friends and yes even through those I disagree with and the failures I have had.

I want to bring positive knowledge and experience to the students through their teachers and their local education system. I am also hoping the teachers and others touching the lives of the students will also learn from the experience and /or products of others.

I would like to encourage those in the trenches with the students, to present their systems and success to us to distibute for the benefit of others. I would like to help others develop and promote those successful systems or products.

Just like brainstorming and mastermind groups produce a better outcome. The sharing and discussing of successful ideas and products will ultimately.

  • Help accelerate a student to their success
  • Keep a student from veering off onto a dead end path
  • Redirect a student to a successful life purpose

Why? and what do I hope to accomplish.
By Bill Beyers
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 04:54

This site is going to multifaceted. I have so many things swimming around in my head that I want to accomplish I'm not sure where to start.

Browse the site check out the different parts. The experiential learning products we are developing along with other products we think are valuable to districts, teachers and students.

If you are a Superintendent or school board member, become a member of the School Board part of the site. I am a new school board member and even though there are there are learning materials out there, I haven't found a place where board members can discuss topics, successes and failures, a mastermind format if you will. So I thouhgt I would create an area for that. Memebership is free but you have to provide all the required information so we could verify you are a board member or superintendent.

We will be creating a teacher's membership level also. Stay tuned.

Much more to come!

Changing the Culture
By Dr Bill Beyers
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 04:33

When I was attending the school board conference in Chicago (my first), Jason Dorsey, a keynote speaker, talked about the need to change the culture of a school to make a difference. Now in my thinking, you can substitute many words for culture. Attitude, passion, relevance to life purpose, etc.

So how can an individual, a class, a school building,or district make that happen?

Since being on the school board, learning and being more involved in the school system I can see individuals, groups and school buildings making positive changes, but is it enough to change the culture?

A lot has changed in the world since I was in school and I venture to say more has changed in the world than has changed in the school system. Some would say that is good, some not so good.

I know I am not in the trenches with all of you and I doubt that I would survive that environment for long.

Here is what I do know. I wish I had been introduced to the stuff I have had to stumble upon through inquiry or by chance. I wish I had been introduced to these and other possibilities at a young age.

So, this is my goal. To find material and proven systems, that people that are a lot smarter and more experienced than me, have created and have had success with their messager and methods. I want to introduce these to students at an early age.

I also want to bring what I have learned over the years to as many students as possible. I hope to accomplish this through Club Opportunity. A club I started to bring the outside world of opportunities to the students.
